Bermudians are quite pleased with our thriving performing arts community. Widely acclaimed stage performances sell out quickly so book well in advance.
Bermuda Musical & Dramatic SocietyThe Musical & Dramatic Society schedules continuous and varied entertainment throughout the year and most performances sell out quickly. Their Christmas pantomime is the biggest production of the year, performed at City Hall and attracting audiences of more than 4,500. To find out about recent productions, contact: Bermuda Philharmonic SocietyThe Philharmonic Society promotes a wide variety of orchestral and choral music island- wide. Concerts usually take place at Christmas and in April, and on the first weekend in June there are two free Open Air Pops Concerts at St. George's and the Royal Naval Dockyard. For information on upcoming concerts, contact: Gilbert & Sullivan Society of BermudaDevoted to performing the works of Sir W.S. Gilbert and Sir Arthur Sullivan, masters of political and social satire. Sixty devotees comprise the current membership. For information on current shows, contact: Hasty Pudding TheatricalsBermuda is the only place outside of Cambridge where this Harvard University comedy troupe performs during College Weeks, also known as Spring Break. Menuhin SocietyFounded in 1975 and inspired by virtuoso Lord Menuhin, the Menuhin Foundation is a charity funded by private and corporate patrons, and the Ministry of Community Affairs. The Menuhin Youth Orchestra performs at the Bermuda Festival, and the Foundation visits most island primary schools to offer free instruction in violin, viola and cello. The company's extensive repertoire features selections from several West African countries, including Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria and Senegal, to which its members take annual trips.
